Educational Assistance Loan

We know that school studies are hard enough without needing to worry about money. That is why Unigasco offers the Educational Assistance Loan. If you are a full-time post-secondary student enrolled at any accredited university or college you are eligible to apply.

When can I apply?
Applications may be made at any time during the school year. If you are seeking a loan in time for the semester beginning in September, be sure to get your application in as soon as possible.

How much can I borrow?
We offer students low-interest loans up to a maximum of $5,000 per student per year, to a lifetime maximum of $30,000 per student.

Post-graduates may be eligible for up to $10,000 each academic year.

How long do I have to pay it back?
As a full-time student, only interest payments are required monthly. When you cease to be an eligible student, blended payments of principal and interest start within six months after leaving an educational institution. You can repay your loan over a 12-, 24-, 36- or 48-month period. Terms of repayment cannot exceed 10 years.

What are you responsible for?
While Unigasco makes it easy to access your loan, there are things that you are responsible for:

• Provide Unigasco with proof of enrolment each year
• Inform Unigasco of any changes to your student status, change in name, change in marital status, or a change of address
• Contact Unigasco within six months of leaving school to set up your repayment terms
• Repay your loan in full and on time
