History
In September 1953, Unigasco Credit
Union obtained its charter. A small group of Union Gas employees pooled
their efforts to organize a "Home-made" credit union. By the
end of the first year, Unigasco had 111 members and had evolved into a
dynamic financial institution.
1968 marked our joining the Ontario
Credit Union League data processing -- one of the first to join. Membership
grew to 1,000. In 1973, we reached the first million dollars in assets.
In 1994, we opened a branch at
62 Keil Dr, in Chatham, to offer Union Gas employees more flexibility.
Member services were enhanced with
the introduction of Interac MemberCard Debit Card in 1995, and MemberLine
(telephone banking) in 1997.
1999 saw the introduction of RESP
(Registered Education Savings Plan) products. In 2000, MemberDirect Internet Access was successfully launched.
In February 2002, we opened our
doors at our new community branch at 40 Keil Dr S in Chatham, and shared
our exceptional services with everyone in Chatham-Kent. Our second community branch, located on Queen Street, opened its doors in October 2007.
